Adobe is running a limited test of new generative AI features inside its experimental iPhone camera app, Project Indigo. Multiple outlets report that Adobe is adding an “AI Playground” module that provides AI-powered photo editing capabilities and added forms of in-app guidance. The updated tools are described as focused on improving photos while maintaining Project Indigo’s existing goal of producing a more natural, SLR-like look.
The rollout is not broadly available. Digital Trends and 9to5Mac say access is limited to a small group of users for a short period, and Digital Trends adds that it is free for participants during the test. Engadget and others describe features that include removing distractions and providing immediate feedback on images, while PetaPixel frames the update as offering photography advice alongside new AI editing options.
The Verge adds that Adobe’s generative AI additions do not rely on Adobe’s Firefly models. Across coverage, the emphasis is on experimental, test-stage functionality that expands Project Indigo beyond its existing computational photography features such as noise reduction and upscaling.
