The update adds an “AI Playground” that expands the app’s computational photography workflow, which previously focused on a natural, SLR-like look using features such as noise reduction, upscaling, and robust camera controls. Multiple outlets report that the new tools can help edit photos with generative AI, including capabilities such as removing distractions and performing quiet image rebuilds. Digital Trends and The Next Web also describe an integrated photo-critique or “photo critic” component that provides immediate feedback on images, alongside the editing functions. The Verge notes that the generative AI update is designed to maintain the app’s natural look approach and that the change does not rely on Adobe’s own Firefly models, according to Adobe’s description.
