Nigerian Army troops rescue a kidnapped senior officer, identified as Lt. Col. Ofor Amobi, and a civilian, Mr. Ikechukwu Onwuanra, in Enugu State after a 10-day search-and-rescue operation. Multiple outlets report that the operation is carried out by a joint military task force, operating under Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA, and involving army units and other security components. Reports cite intelligence-led actions and sustained pressure on the abductors, leading to the victims being found in the early hours of Friday or Saturday. The search focuses on forests and communities in Oji River Local Government Area, including Inyi, Awlaw, and Akpugo-Eze. One account says intelligence provided by the divisional police officer of Inyi Division helps locate the victims. The victims are reportedly recovered at the edge of a forest in Inyi. They are said to have sustained gunshot wounds and are evacuated first to Inyi and later to the 82 Division Medical Hospital for treatment and evaluation. During preliminary debriefing, the victims reportedly describe being blindfolded after their abduction and later abandoned along the Enugu–Anambra border as security operations intensified. Security forces continue efforts to identify, track, and arrest those behind the abduction.
