President Donald Trump says the United States will hold off on fresh strikes against Iran after Middle East allies reach the “parameters” or an outline of a deal to end the war. Multiple outlets report that Trump makes the statement in connection with a request from Iran and regional countries, and frames it as a temporary pause rather than a confirmed end to hostilities. Several reports say the proposed terms discussed by allies include reopening the Strait of Hormuz and addressing Iran’s nuclear concerns. One outlet specifies that Trump links the arrangement to the “Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT” alongside an end to Iran’s nuclear threat. Other coverage describes similar elements in broader terms, focusing on outlines of a settlement and the conditions under which the US would stop ordering new strikes. The reports do not provide detailed verification of the deal, including who has formally signed it or the full list of provisions, but they agree that Trump portrays the diplomatic progress as sufficient to pause threatened or planned military action.
