A Glasgow-based restaurant, Mister Singh’s India (the Home of Curry), deletes its Instagram account after apologising for using an incorrect map of India on its branding. The controversy follows a viral video in which Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain highlights that a map shown on the restaurant’s napkin does not include India’s North Eastern region. The issue gains rapid attention on social media after Borgohain’s post draws criticism.
In response, the restaurant issues an apology, saying it used the wrong depiction of India and that it will take immediate steps to correct the branding. It states it will change its logo to display the proper map of India and emphasises that it did not intend to offend the Indian contingent it hosted.
Shortly after the apology, the restaurant’s Instagram handle becomes unavailable. Multiple reports note that the account is deleted or wiped, though the reason for the removal is not clearly explained in the coverage. The restaurant previously hosted the Indian boxing team connected to the Commonwealth Games 2026.
