A Glasgow-based Indian restaurant deletes its Instagram account after being criticised for displaying an incorrect map of India. Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain raised the issue during a Commonwealth Games 2026 celebratory dinner, pointing out that the map design on restaurant napkins did not include India’s North East region and showed it separated from the rest of the country.
The incident quickly spreads online. Multiple outlets report that the controversy follows Borgohain’s viral video showing the napkin design while she highlights the missing North East. The restaurant, identified as “Mr Singh’s India,” issues an “unequivocal” public apology and says it will correct its branding by changing the logo to show the correct map. Times of India adds that the Boxing Federation of India’s president says the matter is resolved peacefully.
After the apology, the restaurant’s Instagram handle becomes unavailable and is deleted or wiped, with outlets noting that the exact reason for the removal is unclear. Separately, PM Narendra Modi publicly praises Borgohain for raising the concern and drawing attention to accurate representation.
