Universal has released the official trailer for “Violent Night 2,” the sequel to the 2022 action film that depicts Santa Claus as a hard-edged fighter. The trailer brings back David Harbour as Santa and introduces Kristen Bell as Mrs. Claus. Across outlets, the new character is presented as part of Santa’s effort to deal with escalating danger after he is unable to reach the North Pole.
The film’s setup, as described in coverage of the trailer, places Santa in a hostile situation involving a ruthless crime lord and his henchmen overrunning a New Jersey mall, where Santa becomes trapped and continues to fight. Additional casting highlighted in reporting includes Jared Harris and Joe Pantoliano, alongside Bell as Mrs. Claus.
In separate commentary shared by producer Kelly McCormick, writers initially considered including Mrs. Claus in the first “Violent Night,” including an alternate scene involving Santa and the wrong Mrs. Claus, but that idea was removed before release. The sequel is set to premiere December 4.
