Several reports highlight the pope’s long connection to Peru, describing decades spent there as a missionary and church leader and leadership as bishop of Chiclayo prior to his election. The trip is also framed as significant because it includes Argentina, the homeland of Pope Francis, with references to Francis not having returned to Argentina during his papacy despite invitations. The Vatican has not indicated any changes to the overall dates and country order reported by outlets so far.
