Ford unveils “Fathom,” the name and pricing for its first midsize electric pickup truck. Multiple outlets report the vehicle will start at about $28,000 to $28,350, with Ford positioning it as an affordable option. Ford also ties the truck to its broader EV strategy, describing the pickup as the first vehicle built using its “Universal Electric Vehicle” platform, which Ford has said is important to making EVs profitable.
Ford has not yet provided a full design reveal. Engadget and other reports say the company is still withholding what the truck looks like, with a planned timing of an early next year reveal. TechCrunch and others add that the company indicates the truck will arrive in fall 2027, and deliveries are therefore expected later in 2027 or around that window. The change from earlier speculation is also confirmed: Ford uses the “Fathom” name rather than reviving the “Ranchero” name.
