David O. Russell’s biographical sports drama “Madden,” starring Nicolas Cage as NFL coach and broadcaster John Madden, is scheduled to stream worldwide on Amazon Prime Video on November 18. The film also stars Christian Bale as Raiders owner Al Davis and follows Madden’s journey alongside Davis and their partnership that culminates in a Super Bowl win. Multiple outlets report that Amazon MGM backs the movie and that it is expected to receive an awards-qualifying theatrical release earlier in November, though at least one outlet notes that details about any theatrical run have not been confirmed. Rolling Stone, Variety, Deadline, and The Hollywood Reporter all tie the release date to Nov. 18 and describe the central cast and subject matter. ComingSoon.net likewise reports the same Prime Video timing and highlights that the movie is directed by David O. Russell and co-written by him. Across coverage, the main point of agreement is the Nov. 18 Prime Video debut and the film’s focus on Madden and his relationship with Al Davis during the Raiders era.
