Paid tiers also receive changes to model availability and how responses handle different types of prompts.
Several reports say OpenAI switches the default model for free users to the GPT-5.6 Luna model. Others add that a separate GPT-5.6 Sol model is provided for Plus and Pro users, with improved answer focus, adjustable detail, and reduced unnecessary formatting. Some outlets also describe a “Think” feature for complex queries on free tiers.
