Police in southwest London are searching for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman in West Barnes. Officers say the assault happened shortly before midnight on Thursday, around 11.30pm, near Meadowsweet Close and nearby playing fields.
Scotland Yard says “urgent enquiries are ongoing” and that the local community can expect an increased police presence in the coming days. No arrests have been reported. Police are asking for information from anyone who may have seen something unusual in the area.
Descriptions of the suspect are consistent across reports. Police say the man is approximately 5ft 9in, about 30 years old, with brown medium-to-long hair and brown eyes. He was reportedly wearing jeans, a belt with a gold buckle, black trainers, and a black padded coat, and he had a speaking accent that could indicate West Asian or Eastern European heritage. He was also described as wearing a white helmet and riding a pedal-assisted e-bike with a green/black delivery box on the rear.
Investigators urge witnesses to come forward, including by contacting police or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
