Charli xcx makes a surprise guest appearance with The Strokes during their headlining set at San Francisco’s Outside Lands festival. Multiple outlets report she joins the band onstage to sing “Take It or Leave It,” a track associated with The Strokes’ 2001 album Is This It.
The performances take place across the festival’s August 7–8 weekend, with Charli xcx headlining the previous night. Outlets also note remarks from The Strokes’ frontman Julian Casablancas, including playful comments about both artists releasing new records on the same day in July and a lighthearted “album sales battle” exchange. While some headlines emphasize the collaboration and the specific song, the coverage largely agrees on the same core details: the timing at Outside Lands, the guest spot, and the onstage joke setting the tone for the appearance.
