Typhoon Dolphin evacuates over a million on China’s east coast, disrupts flights and transport

Torrential rain forecast across Zhejiang, Shanghai and neighbouring provinces as authorities suspend transport, move vessels to safety and warn of flooding and landslides.

The weakening Typhoon Dolphin brought heavy rain and grounded hundreds of flights on Monday in eastern China, where authorities said more than a million people have been evacuated over the past few days. Our correspondent Jan Camenzind Broomby tells us more

Hundreds of flights have been grounded in China due to weather conditions caused by Dolphin.

Typhoon Dolphin weakened after making landfall in China’s Zhejiang province, but heavy rain, flooding and landslide risks persisted. Over 1 million people were evacuated, while hundreds of flights were cancelled and transport services disrupted across eastern China.
