The incident occurs close to junction 28 (J28) on the A12 around 10.30am, according to reports. Several outlets say the girl is treated at the scene but later dies of her injuries. The road is closed for hours to allow emergency operations, including the use of an air ambulance. One outlet also reports the A12 is closed in both directions during the response.
