Spotify is rolling out a new “AI Persona” badge to identify artist accounts that represent AI-generated identities or self-identified non-human performers. Multiple outlets report the label appears on artist profiles in Spotify’s apps and helps users understand whether an artist “represents a real person.”

The company also sets rules for how content from labeled accounts is treated. Sources agree that, by default, music from AI-labeled artists is removed from Spotify’s editorial and personalized systems, including algorithmic and recommendation features. Several reports specify that Spotify will not include “AI Personas” in personalized recommendations and that this includes exclusions from algorithmic feeds.

While coverage focuses on transparency and trust, outlets differ mainly in emphasis. Some highlight the badge as a consumer-facing signal, while others frame it as Spotify “drawing a line” against AI-generated music and addressing concerns about AI “slop.” Reported timing is also consistent across outlets: the feature is expected to begin rolling out in mid-September.
