A fire breaks out on the 11th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Vile Parle West, killing two people, including a young child, and injuring six others. The blaze is reported late Tuesday night at Shanta Bhavan on Baptista Road near St Xavier School, and firefighting operations continue for several hours.
Authorities mobilize the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, and ambulance services, with multiple vehicles deployed to the scene. The fire brigade initially classifies it as a Level-I incident and later escalates it to Level-II as operations progress. According to the BMC Disaster Management Cell, the fire is confined to electrical wiring and related installations, along with household items and parts of the interior. The fire is brought under control and completely extinguished at around 1 am.
