Troye Sivan releases the single “She’s the Best” and shares a music video starring Nicole Kidman. Multiple outlets report the video features a club setting with drag performers, including Sasha Colby, and that it is directed by Gordon Von Steiner.
The releases are presented as the start of a new era for Sivan. PinkNews and others describe the track as a love song, while Consequence and Stereogum frame it alongside an album announcement. Stereogum says the video pairs Kidman and Sivan again after their 2018 film Boy Erased, and also highlights the album’s date and that this track is Sivan’s first new song in about three years. Variety similarly emphasizes Kidman’s appearance and the club atmosphere.
Across the coverage, the common focus is the collaboration between Sivan and Kidman and the drag-centered visuals, while outlets differ in how they characterize the song’s meaning and whether they foreground the album campaign details or the performers involved.
