A high school student in Zamboanga City, southern Philippines, shoots and kills a classmate before fatally shooting himself at a school in a university campus, according to city officials and police. Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso says the attacker carried two firearms.

Olaso also says the student initially fired at a teacher, but it was not clear whether the teacher was hit. After killing the student, the shooter then turned the gun on himself. Several outlets report that two other people were injured. The Korea Times and The New York Times add that the suspect appears to wear a body camera and livestream the attack.

Outlets largely agree on the sequence of events and location. Differences are mostly in emphasis and detail: some headlines simply summarize the deaths, while others highlight the alleged livestreaming. Coverage also places the incident in regional context, noting it comes weeks after a school shooting in Thailand, where the government took steps to restrict guns following an earlier deadly attack.
