FX orders “Legends,” a new limited series that reunites much of the cast of the outlaw biker drama “Sons of Anarchy.” Multiple outlets report the project is a meta-thriller in which the actors play versions of themselves as part of a story that faces a real-world threat.
Variety, Deadline, and others describe “Legends” as developed and executive produced by Charlie Hunnam, who is also set to star. The cast returning for the new series includes Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal, along with additional original “Sons of Anarchy” performers such as Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates, and Theo Rossi, with Jonathan Groff also reported as joining. Several outlets emphasize that the cast does not reprise the original characters; instead, it leans into the meta concept.
Times of India and other reports add production details, saying the series comes from FX Productions and 20th Television. Deadline also notes that “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter publicly responds that he is not involved with the new show, addressing concerns about the franchise’s creator role while supporting Hunnam’s approach.
