Apple Music says it will add visible labels for songs created with AI later this year, building on an earlier effort to introduce AI Transparency Tags. The labels are intended to make disclosures about the use of AI more noticeable to listeners within the music service.

Apple Music’s stated approach includes requiring content providers to include AI Transparency Tags whenever AI is used to create a material portion of a track, including cases where tracks are generated through AI platforms. Industry outlets report that this requirement applies to record labels and distributors, who must tag relevant songs so the information can appear in Apple Music.

Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety all describe the same overall initiative: AI-related disclosures are moving from a background tagging system to user-facing labeling on the platform. While the outlets differ slightly in wording—such as references to the “Made With AI” label—their coverage aligns on the timing (later this year) and the goal of informing users when AI plays a significant role in creating a song.
