Mirae Asset Financial Group is outlining plans to build a large digital asset business centered on its newly acquired cryptocurrency exchange, now renamed Digital X. Founder and chairman Park Hyeon-joo discusses goals for crypto-related products and profitability targets tied to the venture.
According to reports, Mirae Asset aims to grow the digital asset business to 150 trillion won (about $109 billion) and to make it profitable by 2027. Park frames Digital X as a core pillar of the group’s “Mirae Asset 3.0” strategy, saying the group will leverage its client assets base as it expands.
The coverage aligns on Digital X’s origin and ownership changes: Mirae Asset Consulting, a nonfinancial affiliate, acquires a 97.15% stake in Korbit in July and later renames the exchange. Differences across outlets are mainly in emphasis. CoinDesk and The Block highlight the scale and business trajectory, while other outlets focus more on the planned areas of expansion, including stablecoins and tokenization/stablecoin and real-world assets approaches. Some reports also mention potential additional capital injections as operations scale, though figures are not fully consistent across drafts.
