The New York Yankees start Gerrit Cole on the mound in Game 1 of the AL Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday night in Tampa Bay. Yahoo Sports and the Winnipeg Free Press both report Cole is the scheduled starter for the Yankees as the series opens.
The New York Post adds context from the Yankees’ postseason path, noting they sweep the Red Sox in the AL wild-card series and had a choice between their top options heading into the ALDS. The outlets align on the Game 1 decision, while framing it slightly differently: one emphasizes the matchup and schedule, and another highlights the selection advantage the Yankees had after advancing decisively.
