Food regulator FSSAI orders Everest Food Products to recall its pre-packed cumin powder after lab testing finds pesticide residues exceeding permitted limits and declaring samples “unsafe” for consumption. NDTV and The Economic Times report that the recall covers the implicated batch, with consumers directed to check batch details.
FSSAI says it draws a regulatory sample from a premises in Goa and that the Food Analyst’s report identifies pesticides Azoxystrobin and Thiamethoxam above maximum prescribed levels. After the company is given an opportunity to appeal, the sample is tested again at the Referral Food Laboratory, which also confirms it is “unsafe.” NDTV focuses on the recall announcement and the need to verify batch information, while The Times of India adds additional regulatory action.
In a separate enforcement step, FSSAI suspends the licence of Creative Bakers and Confectioners for hygiene deficiencies. Times of India notes that the firm must document the recalled product and take corrective measures to prevent recurrence, along with reporting to regulators.
