Reform UK publishes a 27-page internal report concluding that it did not breach electoral law after senior figures were recorded in an undercover sting discussing how foreign donations might be handled. The party says there was no legal wrongdoing by Dan Jukes, Nigel Farage’s press adviser, or James Orr, its head of policy. It also says the specific £500,000 donation discussed in the footage never happened.
The report, commissioned after a Channel 4 News investigation by Verbatim Investigations, nonetheless criticises the way Jukes and Orr discussed the arrangements, saying their comments were “wrong, careless” and in one instance “untrue”. It also concludes that polling referenced in the sting was commissioned by Jukes for clients rather than on behalf of Reform. Both men had been suspended after the Channel 4 report.
Police inquiries remain ongoing, with the Metropolitan Police widening its investigation into Reform’s finances and other scrutiny reportedly continuing. Labour chair Bridget Phillipson and other critics describe the internal report as a “whitewash” and argue it does not clear Reform or Farage from wider allegations. Reform says it may pursue legal action against the journalists behind the sting, while Channel 4 says it stands by its reporting.
