Apple is widely expected to introduce a new OLED iPad mini soon, with multiple outlets reporting renewed claims about its display specifications. The new rumor says the tablet will move from today’s display to OLED but will keep a fixed 60Hz refresh rate and will not include ProMotion, Apple’s variable refresh-rate technology.
Reports tie the claim to the same tipster (yeux1122) discussing production details. MacRumors and AppleInsider both cite the argument that domestic production units use an LTPS backplane, a panel type commonly paired with fixed refresh rates rather than the LTPO panels used for variable 10Hz–120Hz refresh. The outlets also note that earlier chatter from other sources mentioned possible 120Hz, but that the latest account contradicts that.
While the display is the focus, outlets also mention other expected changes for an “iPad mini 8” refresh, including faster chip and design tweaks. However, Apple has not confirmed any of these details or provided a launch date, and the reports remain unverified.
