Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi challenges PTI long march participants to “dare and cross” Swabi, a district on the province’s border with Punjab’s Attock, as the opposition party’s march progresses. Kundi says the PTI’s planned route has repeatedly shifted since the march began on Oct 4 and that the next leg toward Swabi remains uncertain, with the KP chief minister yet to outline steps beyond the district.

Speaking in Peshawar, he notes the protesters are in the northwest city of Peshawar and are expected to reach Charsadda, while he casts doubt on whether they will reach Swabi by Oct 11. Kundi also criticises the provincial administration’s handling of counterterrorism and governance, arguing KP authorities should do more to protect ministers and the public. He accuses PTI leaders of operating from “drawing rooms” in Islamabad rather than coordinating on the ground.

The dispute plays out amid heightened tensions between the PTI-led KP provincial government and the federal government, after talks failed to bridge differences that include the counterterrorism policy. Federal ministers link the ongoing disagreement to potential emergency measures or governor’s rule in KP, while KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi calls Kundi’s actions unconstitutional and seeks moves around impeachment.
