Apple’s upcoming smart home efforts may include a new partnership with ADT, according to multiple technology outlets. The reporting points to an October 13 Apple media event in New York and to a pattern of staffing signals at ADT that appear tied to a new, undisclosed role related to installing or servicing Apple-related smart home equipment.

MacRumors and AppleInsider describe ADT “Low Voltage Technician” job listings posted in U.S. cities since July, with some hired workers reportedly receiving limited detail about their responsibilities. Some employees have said they are shadowing other technicians while awaiting further instructions and signing non-disclosure agreements. Additional clues include reports that ADT provided certain workers with iPhones for work, while ADT’s other technicians reportedly use Android devices.

The reports frame the potential ADT role as part of Apple’s broader smart home strategy, which has also been linked to companies such as LG and Schneider Electric. It remains unclear whether any ADT agreement would include security monitoring. ADT previously partnered with Google for home security, and outlet reporting suggests that agreement may have expired or may expire without renewal, potentially opening the door for a new tech partnership with Apple.
