Google has introduced the Fitbit Edge, a $180 fitness tracker positioned as a step beyond the Fitbit Air while avoiding the full smartwatch experience. Multiple outlets report that it will replace the Fitbit Charge 6 and is scheduled to begin shipping on Oct. 27.

The Edge includes features such as automatic workout detection and battery hardware described as replaceable. Several sources also cite health-related capabilities including insulin resistance tracking. Pricing and availability are consistent across coverage, with preorders offered through retailers including Amazon and Google at $179.99.

Outlets differ mainly in how they frame the product. Tech-focused reporting emphasizes where the Edge sits in Google’s lineup—between a screenless or minimal-display tracker (Fitbit Air) and Google’s more full-featured wearable (Pixel Watch 5). Bloomberg and others also highlight the Edge’s role in supporting Google Health, linking the device to the app as a platform for consumers to use newly emphasized health tools.
