Germany is reportedly pursuing the purchase of Ukrainian-made Bars jet-powered cruise missiles for use in Bundeswehr testing and to strengthen European deterrence. Nasha Niva reports Germany will buy Ukrainian “Bars” cruise missiles, while Ukrainska Pravda says Berlin is in talks over acquiring Bars jet-powered drones/missiles.
Ukrainska Pravda and Financial Times both frame the move as involving an initial batch and as linked to a broader effort to replenish precision-guided weapons. Financial Times also adds that the Bars strike system would be among the first offensive weapons developed in Ukraine to be purchased by the Bundeswehr. Bloomberg, as cited by Ukrainska Pravda, is described as reporting Germany’s negotiations for thousands of long-range missiles from European and Ukrainian manufacturers.
