Mumbai’s Central Railway suburban services are disrupted during the Monday morning rush hour, leaving commuters and students stranded and delayed. Multiple reports say trains on the main line between stations including Mulund, Thane and Ghatkopar were halted or running late, with some passengers walking along railway tracks. Several riders described being stuck on trains for extended periods and said announcements were limited or unclear.

Central Railway attributes the disruption to two issues: a foreign wire reported hanging from overhead equipment between Mulund and Thane, and a fire/smoke incident in a relay room at Kanjurmarg. The reports add that the railway carried out an overhead equipment (OHE) block to remove the wire and that the combination of the OHE blockage and the Kanjurmarg incident caused train bunching and schedule delays. Some passengers later linked delays to uncertainty about when normal services would resume.

Among those affected, students travelling for examinations reported disruptions prevented them from arriving on time. Free Press Journal reports that Somaiya College postponed a mid-semester chemistry paper to October 28 after students were stranded. Other coverage also highlights passengers venting frustration through social media and app-based chats during the delays.
