Apollo Global Management is close to buying a nearly 10% minority stake in Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Capital, an alternative asset manager linked to the emirate’s sovereign wealth fund, Mubadala.

Multiple outlets frame the move as part of ongoing cross-border investment between Wall Street and Gulf capital. Financial Times adds that the transaction follows an earlier attempt: about 18 months before, Mark Walter’s holding company TWG announced an equity-stake deal that was not completed. Bloomberg and CNBC describe the firm as the alternative asset-management arm of Abu Dhabi’s $385 billion sovereign wealth fund.

Quartz and other reports also point to expectations around future capital commitments. Quartz says Apollo and other new investors are expected to add an aggregate $5 billion to Mubadala Capital’s strategies at initial close. Across coverage, the core detail—Apollo taking a roughly 10% position—remains consistent, while emphasis varies between deal timing, ownership structure, and the scale of follow-on investment.
