Apple agrees to pay a $250 million settlement to resolve a U.S. class-action lawsuit accusing it of misleading iPhone buyers about the availability of AI-powered Siri features tied to Apple Intelligence. The claims focus on marketing and promotions around the iPhone 16 lineup after features were highlighted at WWDC 2024 and promoted after the phones launched in September 2024. Plaintiffs say Apple created “clear and reasonable” expectations that the more capable Siri and Apple Intelligence features were available with the launch, but those features were delayed and were not fully released. Several reports describe Apple as later pulling or revising ads after the company delayed the Siri Apple Intelligence functionality in March 2025.
The settlement does not include an admission of wrongdoing, according to coverage. Eligible buyers include purchasers of iPhone 16 models and iPhone 15 Pro models within a defined period from June 10, 2024, to March 29, 2025. U.S. settlement class members who submit a claim form may receive a per-device payment that is reported as $25, with the potential to increase if claim volume is low. The settlement has received preliminary approval, and notices are expected to be sent to eligible potential claimants.
