Russell T Davies, writer of Channel 4’s five-part drama Tip Toe, says the production team had “arguments” about how to present the show’s final epilogue. In the last episode, Alan Cumming’s character Leo is hanged from a lamppost, followed by title cards that lay out the fates of other characters. Davies explains the cards were not initially written into the script as on-screen elements, and he was unsure whether they would appear at all. He says the team debated the format and placement, considering options such as having Cumming and David Morrissey read the lines to camera, before settling on a version where Davies appears in a wingback chair and reads the text to the audience. He also describes later discussions about the order of the cards and even the font used, after the director Peter Hoar created the sequence as seen in the finished edit.

Separately, both Cumming and Morrissey discuss how their real-life 40-year friendship helped them portray a volatile neighbour feud on screen. Davies and the actors also frame the drama as reflecting contemporary conditions rather than a distant warning about the future. All episodes are available on Channel 4, with the final instalment airing on TV.
