Waymo, Alphabet’s robotaxi unit, is launching an invite-only premium membership called Waymo Premier for frequent riders. Multiple outlets report the plan is priced at $29.99 per month (Bloomberg describes it as $30) and is designed to speed up service for people who use Waymo most often. The key benefit is priority matching, which translates into faster pickup times compared with standard service. Subscribers also receive loyalty credits: they earn 10% cash back on every trip in the form of “Waymo Cash,” which can be applied to future rides. Riders are also offered additional perks, including more flexible ride changes, with some reports citing up to five free cancellations per month. Quartz also reports early access to new cities as part of the package. Waymo Premier is initially available in select markets, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, according to The Next Web. How-To Geek and other outlets describe the Premier tier as an exclusive program targeted at the company’s highest-frequency customers, with eligibility determined by invite.
