The National Testing Agency (NTA) announces student-oriented changes for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. The exam will be held across India in 551 cities and in 14 cities abroad, under an official schedule referenced by multiple outlets. NTA extends the examination window to 195 minutes, with the test running from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. Several reports also say the extension is meant to ensure candidates can use the intended time to attempt the paper without administrative procedures (such as attendance-related formalities) reducing the effective working time.
In addition to the longer window, NTA revises the question booklet’s rough-work arrangement. Candidates will receive four rough-work pages instead of two. Reported changes place two rough-work pages at the beginning of the booklet (after the instruction page) and two pages at the end, rather than keeping both rough-work pages only at the end. Outlets describe the adjustment as aimed at improving convenience and accessibility, including feedback from left-handed students regarding page placement.
NTA also frames the measures as maintaining fairness and security while improving candidate experience.
