The incident disrupts air travel, with some flights affected by delays, diversions, and planes landing at or operating from different locations. Metro reports that some aircraft are stranded on the tarmac after landing and passengers cannot disembark while the emergency response continues.
Local transport services are also impacted. Metro reports that Edinburgh trams run between Gyle Centre and St Andrew Square only, and that Scottish Citylink buses terminate and pick up at alternative stops until further notice.
