Multiple reports say a small aircraft crashes into Beijing’s tallest building, the 108-story CITIC Tower, damaging upper floors and scattering debris. Witness video and images described an apparent impact with part of the aircraft on the ground near the tower, and footage showed a large hole or extensive damage on the building’s higher levels. Reports also describe windows broken near the impact area and debris falling onto surrounding streets, with emergency crews responding and securing the site. NBC News and Euronews report that police and emergency personnel seal off the area as people move away from the site. NDTV and other outlets add that parts of the aircraft, including a tail section, are visible among debris and that additional damage is seen at street level. News outlets including News18 cite early information suggesting the aircraft is a domestically produced light general aviation model (B-12PP), though details beyond initial identification are limited across sources. Fox News reports that Chinese authorities impose an information blackout, while other reports emphasize ongoing investigation of the cause. Some aviation-focused commentary claims the government later attributes the incident to “personal reasons,” but this is not consistently detailed in the other sources provided.
