British TikTok creator Brooke George, 23, from Kent, is charged in Dubai with premeditated murder after her boyfriend died following an incident in their apartment. According to UK-based and international reports, George was arrested in the early hours of June 22 and taken into custody at Bur Dubai Police Station. UAE law allows the death penalty for convictions for premeditated murder, and human-rights advocates say she could face execution by firing squad if found guilty.
George denies wrongdoing and says she acted in self-defence during a violent domestic dispute. Human rights group Detained in Dubai says her boyfriend was allegedly abusive, including punching her, and that he withheld her travel documents and prevented her from leaving. The group also alleges George was denied embassy access, was questioned without legal counsel present, and was subjected to a strip search by male officers.
George’s mother, Thereza George, says her daughter appeared terrified after the incident, had visible injuries including a swollen eye, and had been trying to escape. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office says it is supporting the detainee and her family and remains in contact with local authorities. UAE authorities have not publicly responded to the allegations cited in these reports.
