Prior reporting also notes earlier career experience including roles at Lehman Brothers, Uber, and consulting work at McKinsey, along with academic background that includes IIT Kharagpur and IIM Ahmedabad.
In his new role, OpenAI assigns Singh responsibility for performance in India across several areas. These include driving consumer growth, expanding enterprise adoption, developing strategic partnerships, and engaging with regulators, along with broader operational oversight. Several reports describe the appointment as part of OpenAI’s wider strategy to deepen investment in one of its fastest-growing markets outside the United States. Sources also state that Singh reports to OpenAI leadership for the Asia Pacific region, with one report citing Kiran Mani in that capacity.
