Multiple Nigerian outlets report that Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, announced the rescue of a kidnapped woman from Oyo State and her son. The victims were reportedly abducted in connection with locations described as Igbope and Oorelope Local Government Area in Oyo State, and the operation to locate and free them took place in Kwara State. The rescue is attributed to Igboho’s “Iru Ekun” security network, working with the Nigeria Police Force’s Intelligence Response Team. According to the reports, security operatives conducted several days of intelligence gathering and tracking before engaging the kidnappers.
The outlets state that the kidnappers were lured during an arranged ransom collection and that a gun battle broke out after operatives attacked the abductors in a forest area. The kidnappers allegedly fled during the exchange of fire, leaving the captives behind. The woman and her son were subsequently found and rescued, and they are reported to be receiving medical treatment at Igboho General Hospital. Igboho’s media statements also credit police leadership and coordination with commissioners in Kwara and Niger states for supporting the operation.
