India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) continues its probe into the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir by naming Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed in a supplementary chargesheet. Multiple outlets report that the NIA accuses Saeed of playing a “mastermind” or orchestrating role in what it describes as a cross-border conspiracy behind the attack, and it also links him to LeT and its alleged proxy outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF). The NIA’s filings detail supporting evidence gathered through scientific and on-ground investigations, according to reports.
In parallel, one report says a special NIA court issues a non-bailable warrant seeking Saeed’s arrest, while other coverage describes the supplementary chargesheet being submitted before the NIA special court in Jammu.
The NIA charges Saeed with offences including waging war against India and conspiracy from across the border. Reports also note that the attack led to major diplomatic and military escalation between India and Pakistan, and that Pakistan denies involvement and has repeatedly asked India for evidence, with Pakistan’s prime minister proposing an independent investigation that India did not accept.
