Hargitay, 62, is best known for starring as Olivia Benson on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” a long-running NBC drama. Outlets also note that she has been nominated multiple times for Emmy acting. Several reports add that she may be involved in the awards this year beyond hosting, including a possibility of being a nominee for her documentary.
Sources agree that Hargitay is the first woman to host the Emmys in 15 years, following Jane Lynch, who hosted the 2011 ceremony.
