Nasarawa State police say suspected gunmen attacked the Federal University of Lafia late Tuesday night and abduct three students. Police spokesperson SP Ramhan Nansel confirms the incident, stating that the attack occurred around a student residence area. The police received a distress call from the university’s security leadership, after which the Commissioner of Police ordered deployment of tactical teams and patrol operatives to the scene. All outlets report that police respond quickly enough to rescue one student. Efforts are continuing to locate and free the remaining two students who are still believed to be in captivity. Police say operations are being intensified to secure the victims and to arrest the perpetrators. Authorities also describe the incident as a sign of heightened security concerns and indicate that intelligence and operational assets are being sustained in the hunt. The police command has begun a manhunt for the attackers as it works toward the safe return of the two students still missing and bringing those behind the abduction to justice.
