Palm Beach International Airport in Florida officially changes its name to the President Donald J. Trump International Airport, effective Thursday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Multiple outlets report that new signage featuring President Trump’s name begins rolling out in the coming weeks, while older “Palm Beach International Airport” branding is being removed. The renaming follows legislation approved earlier this year by Florida officials; outlets citing state involvement note the measure was signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Several sources say the airport becomes the first airport to be named after a sitting U.S. president. The airport’s three-letter identifier does not immediately change across all systems, creating a transition period. CBS News reports the airport code remains unchanged for about 40 days, while other coverage notes the FAA code change occurs but that airline and passenger-facing systems may update at different times, leaving some travelers still seeing “PBI” alongside “DJT.” Accounts also describe the renaming as part of a broader effort to associate Trump’s name with public infrastructure, and mention that Trump’s aircraft “Force One” was among the first planes to land after the change.
