Politics today was defined by confrontation and instability, from Ankara to the Philippines. In Turkey, riot police stormed the headquarters of the main opposition CHP after a court reinstated former leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, using tear gas and, by some accounts, rubber bullets to break a barricaded standoff with supporters of ousted leader Özgür Özel. The raid deepens an already volatile leadership crisis at the heart of the opposition. In the Philippines, rescuers raced through the day after a nine-storey building under construction collapsed near Manila before dawn, with dozens initially feared trapped beneath concrete and twisted steel. More than two dozen people were pulled out, but search teams continued probing unstable rubble for survivors as at least one death was confirmed. Together, the scenes underscored a day of state force, public peril and high political tension.
