Nigerian talent manager and music executive Ubi Franklin says having children with different women is one of the worst decisions he has made. In comments shared through interviews and a podcast episode (“Talks with Ubi Franklin”), he frames his advice as a personal lesson drawn from his own experience. Franklin says that while money and the ability to provide for children are not the main issue, the real difficulty comes from managing relationships and emotions involving the children’s mothers. He warns that “baby mama drama” can create ongoing emotional strain, and he urges young people to avoid repeating the situation he faced. Franklin also says he believes children are a major blessing, but he argues they are best raised within a single family unit, adding that if he had another chance he would choose a different path. Reports also note that he has discussed earlier personal challenges, including depression following the breakdown of his marriage. Franklin’s statements emphasize that decisions made in the present can affect parents emotionally and financially over time.

1 month agoUbi Franklin, the Nigerian artiste manager, has described having children with different women as one of the biggest mistakes of his life, urging young people to avoid following the same path. The talent manager reflected on his personal experiences in a recent episode of his podcast ‘Talks with Ubi Franklin’. In the clip, shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Franklin stated that while he deeply loves his children, he wishes he had made different choices. “One of the worst decisions you could ever make is to have kids with different women,” he said. “I’m one of those people who are in it, and I can tell you that no matter the money you think you have, no matter what you have, no matter what you think you are doing, that should never be a decision you’re going to make in life.” Franklin clarified that financial provision for his children has never been a problem. He, however, added that the primary challenge was managing the relationships and emotions involving the children’s mothers. “Some of us are lucky that God has given us some good money to be able to take care of them. But taking care of them is not the problem. It is managing the emotions of the adults who are their mothers,” he said. “I want to tell young people, please and please, no matter the life you want to live, let baby mama drama not be part of it because some of us have survived it, but some of you might not be able to survive it.” Franklin added that, given another chance, he would have chosen a different route, emphasising that while children are life’s greatest blessing, he believes they are best raised within a single family unit. “I wish I had taken a different road on it. Children are the best thing that we can ever have in our lives. If you can do anything possible in your life, just have all of them in one place,” he said. In the video’s caption, Franklin said he had already reflected on his past and was sharing his experience not out of shame but to encourage others to make wiser decisions. He said his choices had taught him valuable lessons, adding that decisions made today can shape one’s future emotionally, financially and as a parent. “Learn from my experience. Growth begins with honesty,” he wrote. Franklin and Lilian Esoro tied the knot on November 1, 2015, but they separated a year later. They share a son named Jayden. In 2017, Franklin disclosed that he struggled with depression for nine months following the breakdown of his marriage. Aside from Jayden, the music executive has three other children from different relationships.
