A speeding Porsche crashes into a road divider on Mumbai’s Coastal Road after the driver reportedly loses control of the vehicle, police say. The incident happens around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday and briefly affects traffic. According to police and officials, the impact triggers the Porsche’s airbags, and the driver and his co-passenger escape with minor injuries. The crash also involves another car: an eight-year-old boy (described as a minor girl in one report) in the other vehicle is injured, while other injuries or casualties are not reported.
Police remove the damaged Porsche from the roadway to restore traffic and launch an investigation to determine the sequence of events, including the vehicle’s speed at the time of the crash. Authorities examine CCTV footage and other technical evidence and question the driver. A preliminary investigation points to overspeeding as a factor in the loss of control.
The driver is booked under sections including rash or negligent driving and other relevant provisions. Authorities also reference that this is the second Coastal Road accident within about a week, after a separate car fire incident inside the Coastal Road tunnel earlier in the week.
