The quake affects communities around Huancayo province, with the US Geological Survey reporting it occurred at about 9:24 pm and was located roughly 2 kilometres west-southwest of the city of Sicaya. Depth is reported at around 10 kilometres, and the epicenter is described as being close to the surface by at least one outlet, which can intensify shaking.
