Amazon Games confirms that “Tomb Raider: Catalyst,” the next original mainline entry featuring Lara Croft, will be delayed to 2028. Multiple outlets report the change after Amazon Games’ head of gaming discussed the revised schedule in an interview. “Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis,” another major Tomb Raider project currently being prepared by Crystal Dynamics, is scheduled to release earlier on February 12, 2027, but “Catalyst” now will arrive after that, in 2028.
The reporting also places the delay in context of recent shifts across the franchise. Earlier announcements indicated that “Legacy of Atlantis,” described as a reimagining/remake of the original Tomb Raider, was pushed back from its initial 2026 window to 2027. According to one account, Amazon’s focus on strengthening its cloud gaming service, Luna, is among the reasons discussed for the timing, aiming to build an associated identity around original content. Crystal Dynamics remains the lead developer for both projects, with Flying Wild Hog co-developing “Legacy of Atlantis.”
