Israeli settlers attack Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank early on Sunday, Palestinian officials say, setting fire to two mosques and spraying graffiti on buildings. Reports focus on the town of Qusra south of Nablus, where a mosque under construction is said to have been torched, damaging its entrance and stonework. Palestinian sources also say the attackers wrote Hebrew graffiti, including the word “revenge.” In a separate incident near Tulkarem, a mosque in the village of Kour is reported to have been burned, with racist slogans written on its walls.
The attacks follow a deadly clash on Friday near the village of Tell (also reported as Tal). Palestinian and Israeli sources say four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers were killed, including one Israeli soldier described as acting as a local security coordinator. After the deaths, the Israeli military raids Nablus and nearby towns and arrests dozens of Palestinians, describing the action as a “counter-terrorism” operation. In response to the Sunday arson reports, the Israeli military says troops were dispatched to the outskirts of Qusra, found signs consistent with arson and graffiti, and searched for suspects before police begin an investigation.
