Paramount+ has ordered a sequel series to the 1995 cult classic “Clueless,” with Alicia Silverstone set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz. Multiple outlets report the project has been picked up after earlier development plans stalled. It was originally set up for development at Peacock in early 2025, and subsequent reporting indicated that it was no longer moving forward there. Paramount+ now treats the project as a limited series. The series is associated with producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, along with Jordan Weiss, and CBS Studios. The creative team includes writers connected to “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl,” as well as a writer credited from “Freakier Friday,” though specific individual assignments are described differently across coverage. Deadline also reports that filming is slated to begin in Los Angeles in 2027. The reports collectively frame the Paramount+ order as a restart and relocation of the previously in-development sequel series.
