The new series is described as beginning roughly 30 years after the original movie, with Cher raising a teenager of her own.
The production team includes creators and writers associated with “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl,” with other reported contributors including a writer from “Freakier Friday.” Deadline also identifies Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, along with Jordan Weiss and CBS Studios, as key producers behind the project. Filming is slated to begin in Los Angeles in 2027, according to Deadline.
